Infrastructure development is one of the major components of SSMP. In the Nepalese context where there is a shortage of infrastructure, physical asset management i.e. proper planning, management and utilisation of resources must be given utmost priority. Well planned and managed infrastructure is a must for creating an enabling environment for better services and for the retention of human resources. All planning work for health facilities infrastructure is done by the Management Division (MD) of the Department of Health Services (DoHS). All construction projects valued above NRs. 1
million are executed through the Department of Building Construction and Urban Planning (DUDBC) under the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works (MPPW), and all projects worth less than NRs.1million are directly executed by Management Division of Department of health services.
