Public Private Partnerships
This paper explores the potential of public private partnerships to supplement overstretched government capacity in health service provision and training and equity and access work and describes some of the examples in Nepal. The Government has expressed commitment to the principles of partnership, but work is needed to establish institutional mechanisms and responsibilities for ensuring services are equitably available and of the required standards. SSMP has gained significant experience in some of these areas through its work with partners and the government, and will apply this learning in support of the government’s development of partnership modalities and in collaboration with the Health sector Reform Support Programme.
