The purpose of this document is to provide strategy for the proper management of health infrastructure and to develop a safe, timely and cost effective maintenance system. Due to lack of maintenance policy and established system, MoHP/DoHS at present are managing the maintenance and repairs as an emergency and crisis events. Major constraints to carryout proper maintenance until now was lack of holistic information on existing situation of health infrastructures in the country, which now Management Division with support from SSMP and GTZ/HSSP and in close coordination with Department of Urban Development and Building Construction has now completed the data base of existing health infrastructures under MoHP together with their physical conditions.

Well planned and managed infrastructure is a must for creating an enabling environment for better health services and for the retention of human resources. The support being provided by SSMP in this respect is described; firstly in terms of ongoing construction projects.
