SSMP has just signed an agreement with the Nepal Institute of Medicine (affiliated with Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu) to develop a strategic plan and curricula for including skilled birth attendance in pre-service training for doctors and certificate nurses and BSc/ BN nursing courses. This means that all new graduates will meet international standards for providing skilled birth attendance services, which are a major part of Nepal's effort to meet the Millennium Development Goal for maternal health.
