Aama Programme extended to Private Hospitals

The Aama (mother) programme launched in January of this year, comprising free delivery services and cash incentives to cover travel costs for all women who deliver at a government health institution, has been extended to the private sector. It covers normal delivery, management of complications and caesarean section. This means more women will benefit from the scheme and its contribution to reducing maternal mortality will be increased, especially as all the newly approved hospitals provide life-saving caesarean section services and complication management. This is also a further step towards public private partnerships. The newly included hospital are:

Team Hospital, Rukum (mission)
Team Hospital, Dadeldhura (mission)
Team Hospital Okhaldhunga (mission)
Amda Hospital Jhapa (NGO, non profit)
Manamohan Memorial Hospital, Pharping, Kathmandu (NGO, non profit)
Lord Buddha Academy, Kohalpur, Nepalgunj
Kist Medical College, Lalitpur
Family Planning Association of Nepal Birthing Centre, Kavre (NGO, non profit)
